About the role

Maintenance Technician IThe Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level position supporting highway and infrastructure maintenance activities. This is a hands-on role that involves outdoor work, operating tools and equipment, and working as part of a team. Previous maintenance experience is helpful but not required.
Key Responsibilities: Perform general highway and infrastructure maintenance tasks - ie fixing potholes, picking up debris. Follow verbal and written instructions and established safety procedures. Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment. Work safely around mechanical equipment and active traffic areas. Maintain a clean, secure, and safe work site. Assist team members with maintenance activities as needed. Complete daily work logs and basic vehicle inspections. Participate in required safety meetings and training. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. Demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
Qualifications: High school diploma/GED preferred, but not required. Previous maintenance, construction, or outdoor labor experience is a plus. Ability to perform basic math. Basic smartphone and mobile application skills. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, as required. Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency/on-call assignments.
Physical Requirements: Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work for extended periods. Ability to work safely in active traffic areas. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Ability to wear required PPE at all times.
