About the role
Quality Control Electrical Inspector The Quality Control (QC) Electrical Inspector inspects shipboard electrical installations and verifies that work complies with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. The role documents inspection and test results and works with Production, Engineering, and other stakeholders to resolve quality issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect electrical installations, including equipment mounting, cable routing, cable supports, terminations, labeling, grounding, and bonding. Verify work against approved drawings, one-line diagrams, cable schedules, specifications, work packages, procedures, and the project Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).Witness and document required electrical tests, including continuity, insulation resistance, grounding, energization, and functional testing, as applicable. Confirm that test equipment is suitable for the work and has current calibration documentation when required. Coordinate hold-point and witness-point inspections with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), the United States Coast Guard (USCG), customer representatives, and other authorized parties. Prepare accurate inspection reports, test records, deficiency documentation, and supporting quality records. Identify nonconforming work, initiate nonconformance reports when required, and verify corrective actions through closure. Communicate inspection results and quality concerns clearly to Production, Engineering, Planning, and QC leadership. Support dock trials, sea trials, system testing, regulatory inspections, and final acceptance activities.
Qualifications:
Relevant electrical quality control, marine electrical, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial experience.
Working knowledge of electrical installation, inspection, and testing practices.
Familiarity with applicable ABS rules, USCG regulations, customer requirements, and marine electrical standards.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, technical specifications, work packages, and inspection plans.
Ability to use electrical test equipment safely and interpret test results within the assigned scope of work.
Ability to work independently, prioritize inspections, and collaborate effectively with multiple departments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and traceable quality records.
