Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and growth-oriented Mid-Level Structural Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will lead structural design efforts across a variety of sectors, including heavy industrial, general commercial, hospitality, and multi-family residential projects. You will work independently on analysis and design, prepare production-ready documents, and serve as a direct technical resource for clients and internal design teams.
Key Responsibilities: Design & Analysis: Perform structural design calculations and structural analysis with a high degree of autonomy, escalating complex or non-standard challenges to senior leadership when necessary. Documentation: Lead the preparation of structural design deliverables, including detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical engineering reports. Client & Team Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and multidisciplinary design teams regarding day-to-day project operations. Construction Administration: Review submittals, respond to RFIs, coordinate directly with contractors, and resolve constructability issues during the construction phase. Field Engineering: Perform site visits and field observations to evaluate conditions and verify compliance with design intent. Project Oversight & Mentorship: Assist project managers with monitoring scope, schedule, and budget; mentor and review the work of entry-level engineers and EITs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience: 4–8 years of relevant structural engineering experience. Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or actively pursuing with an exam date scheduled. Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of structural concrete, steel, wood, and masonry design, alongside deep familiarity with current local and national building codes and design standards. Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with structural analysis software (e.g., RAM, ETABS, Tekla) preferred.
Skills: Proven ability to read, interpret, and generate structural drawings with minimal oversight, as well as strong organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
Travel: Ability and willingness to travel as required (approximately 10–15% maximum).
