About the role
Think Consulting is partnering with a leading manufacturer and supplier in the lawn & garden industry to identify a Vice President of Sales who will lead the organization's U.S. commercial strategy, drive revenue growth, and strengthen key retail partnerships. This is a highly visible executive leadership position for a hands-on sales leader who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and has a proven track record managing major home improvement and retail accounts. The ideal candidate will bring deep relationships with big-box retailers, experience leading national sales organizations, and the ability to drive results while helping position the business for future growth.
Position Summary:
The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing the overall sales strategy, leading a national sales organization, and owning relationships with key retail customers. This individual will work closely with executive leadership to accelerate growth, improve market penetration, and expand existing retail partnerships. The ideal candidate enjoys rolling up their sleeves, operating in a lean environment, and wearing multiple hats to achieve business objectives. This is a highly collaborative and influential role that requires both strategic vision and day-to-day execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sales Leadership Develop and execute the company's U.S. sales strategy to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share objectives. Identify opportunities for growth within existing accounts and new market segments. Partner with executive leadership to establish annual sales targets, forecasts, and performance metrics. Drive pricing, promotional, new product, and category expansion initiatives. Big Box Retail Account Leadership Serve as the executive relationship owner for major retail partners, including Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart, etc. Lead annual business reviews, strategic planning sessions, and contract negotiations. Collaborate with retail partners on assortment planning, merchandising, category growth, and promotional strategy. Expand market presence through enhanced customer engagement and sales execution. Commercial Execution Maintain an active presence with customers through regular travel and in-person meetings. Monitor sales performance, category trends, and competitive activity. Develop action plans to improve customer penetration, profitability, and operational effectiveness. Ensure strong communication and alignment across all commercial functions.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
10+ years of progressive sales leadership Experience within seasonal consumer products, lawn & garden, outdoor products, or similar categories. Demonstrated success managing and growing relationships with Lowe's and The Home Depot. Experience negotiating national retailer agreements, assortment decisions, promotional programs, and category placements. Proven experience leading multi-level sales organizations and remote field sales teams. Track record of delivering measurable revenue growth and sales performance improvements.
