Job title: Senior RPA Engineer Clearance Requirement: U.S. Citizenship Required; Active Public Trust or ability to obtain DHS suitability Position Overview: The RPA Engineer will design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain automation solutions that streamline USCIS business and technical processes. This role supports automation across DevSecOps, Release Readiness Reviews, technical governance, testing, reporting, and other operational workflows through reliable, scalable, and secure automation capabilities. The ideal candidate has experience building robotic process automation workflows, translating manual and repetitive processes into automated solutions, and integrating automation with enterprise systems, APIs, databases, and engineering platforms. Experience with UiPath, Python, and automation in technical or operational environments is highly desired. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain RPA workflows, bots, scripts, and supporting automation components. Analyze business processes and translate manual, repetitive activities into efficient automated workflows. Support automation of DevSecOps, Release Readiness Reviews, technical governance, testing, reporting, and related operational activities. Integrate RPA solutions with enterprise systems, APIs, databases, and engineering platforms. Develop automation scripts and workflow components using tools such as UiPath and Python. Implement exception handling, logging, monitoring, and operational controls within automated processes. Support integration of AI and ML capabilities into RPA solutions where appropriate. Test, troubleshoot, and optimize automations to improve reliability, processing time, data quality, and operational performance. Develop operational metrics and reporting to measure automation effectiveness, efficiency gains, and business value. Create and maintain technical documentation, including process design documents, automation logic, test results, deployment notes, and operational support procedures. Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineers, testers, product owners, and governance teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver sustainable solutions. Ensure automation solutions align with security, compliance, change management, and technical governance requirements. Required Qualifications: Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining RPA solutions. Hands-on experience with UiPath or comparable RPA platforms. Experience using Python for scripting, automation, data processing, API interaction, or workflow support. Ability to analyze business and technical processes and identify opportunities for automation. Experience integrating automation solutions with APIs, databases, enterprise applications, or engineering tools. Knowledge of exception handling, logging, monitoring, and operational controls for automated workflows. Experience troubleshooting and optimizing automation solutions for reliability, accuracy, and performance. Ability to document automation requirements, designs, test results, and operating procedures. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a technical delivery environment. Preferred Qualifications: Automation Developer Professional (Formerly UiARD) Certification Experience supporting automation in a federal, DHS, or USCIS environment Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, release management, or technical governance processes Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled automation, intelligent document processing, natural language processing, or data classification use cases Experience with SQL, REST APIs, Git, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, ServiceNow, or similar enterprise tools Experience developing metrics, dashboards, or reports to demonstrate automation performance and efficiency gains Understanding of secure software development practices and federal IT compliance requirements Experience supporting Agile teams or working in Scrum/Kanban delivery environments Desired Technical Skills: UiPath Studio, Orchestrator, and attended/unattended bot development Python scripting and automation REST API integration SQL and database interaction Workflow design and process mapping Logging, monitoring, and exception handling DevSecOps and CI/CD tools Test automation and validation Reporting and metrics development AI/ML integration with automation workflows
