About the role
Accounting Manager, Real Estate Private Equity Downtown Chicago, IL (hybrid, 4 days in office) | $125K to $145K base + 20% bonusA private equity real estate firm in downtown Chicago is adding an Accounting Manager. The firm is a growing fund platform. The founders and finance lead come from large, well known real estate investment managers. This is the #2 finance seat. You report to the Managing Director of Finance, a CPA who came up through public accounting and real estate fund accounting. You own the day to day relationship with the third party fund administrator and review everything they produce. The seat goes well past fund accounting: valuation, investor returns, tax, audits, acquisitions, and board reporting. What you'll own Review monthly and quarterly closes, financial statements, and schedules from the fund administrator Review fair value adjustments and investment level accounting Review capital activity and quarterly investor reporting Calculate and review investor returns, waterfall, and promote Build budget to actual analysis for the fund and the management company Help run annual audits and the tax process (estimates, returns, K-1s) with outside advisors Support acquisitions: due diligence, new entity setup, bank accounts, onboarding new assets Document processes and build scalable tools, including AI enabled review and reporting What you bring 4 to 7 years of accounting experience Real estate fund accounting, private equity fund accounting, or public accounting serving private real estate funds You can review a close and a set of financials on your own and spot what is wrong Working knowledge of fair value reporting, capital accounts, and waterfall mechanics Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance Strong Excel and Power Point
