Life Insurance Benefits: Paid Time Off and Paid HolidaysA Day in the Life of the Convenience Store Manager As the Convenience Store Manager, you'll oversee daily store operations, including the deli, inventory, fuel pumps, cash handling, and a team of about seven clerks. One moment you might be planning the weekly deli special, and the next you'll be coaching a new hire, reviewing inventory turnover, or making sure the pumps are stocked and running smoothly. Your leadership directly helps the cooperative grow its market share, improve efficiency, and deliver outstanding customer service to its members and community.
Responsibilities include: Place bi-weekly food and non-food orders, and enter all orders into the store's inventory system Set selling prices for deli items, weekly specials, and all store products using target gross margins Develop the weekly deli special menu and coordinate promotion with the Social Media Specialist and Finance Manager Oversee daily deli production using waste tracking, and ensure food quality, portion control, and food safety standards Prepare food for special meetings and company events Restock shelves, coolers, and freezers, monitor expiration dates, and maintain first-in/first-out inventory control Track inventory turnover and work with sales reps on product selection and promotions Coordinate month-end inventory counts and conduct daily recounts of cigarettes, lottery, cash drawers, and safe Maintain financial control of cash drawers, the safe, and bank deposits Hire, train, schedule, and supervise approximately seven C-Store clerks Finalize clerk timecards, approve time-off requests, and enforce dress code and company policies Coach team members through encouragement, retraining, and progressive discipline as needed Develop marketing strategies in partnership with the Social Media Specialist Oversee fuel pumps, fuel systems, and fuel levels, and coordinate with the Fuel Department Ensure proper maintenance of store equipment, complete monthly fire extinguisher checks, and coordinate repairs with vendors Serve as the after-hours contact for store alarms Keep the store, pumps, and outdoor areas clean, organized, safe, and welcoming Follow OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations Attend monthly performance meetings with leadership and annual safety training
Requirements and Qualifications: 2+ years of hands-on working manager experience 3+ years of Cash handling and financial controls experience Class A/B fuel operator certification (or ability to obtain)Health and food safety certification (or ability to obtain)2+ years of C-store, grocery, fuel station, or retail food service management experience Accountability and management skills with hiring, scheduling, training, and discipline experience Admin and computer skills: Order entry, inventory reporting, building schedules, and margin-based pricing Deli or food service experience with food safety, portion control, and waste tracking Ability to stand and walk for most of the workday and regularly lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds Commitment to a friendly, professional, customer-first atmosphere About the
