About the role

About the role: We’re looking for an experienced Technical Services / Drafting Manager to lead a small drafting team and support the technical delivery of projects involving roofing and cladding systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, responsible for the direct supervision of two internal drafters and an outsourced drafting partner, while coordinating closely with Project Managers, Engineers, customers, Sales, and Fabrication. You will oversee the coordination and development of technical work within the Technical Services Department, ensuring shop drawings, design details, and fabrication documentation are accurate, compliant with project requirements and specifications, and delivered to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervise a drafting team of 2 and coordinate an outsourced drafting company
  • Develop detailed 2D shop drawings and technical details for roofing and cladding systems
  • Review, coordinate and mark up drawings produced by other drafters
  • Confirm drawings and designs conform to project requirements and specifications
  • Verify comments and update drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards
  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and fabrication tickets
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers and the Shop Fabrication Manager to support project and fabrication requirements
  • Provide technical support to Sales and liaise with customers and internal/external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain drafting standards to ensure consistency and quality across technical documentation
  • Support the accuracy and quality of fabrication documentation
  • Participate in product testing and approvals
  • Perform CNC programming — training will be provided
What We're Looking For: We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
  • Technical drafting / design leadership
  • Roofing and/or cladding systems
  • Shop drawings and fabrication documentation
  • Building enclosure / building envelope
  • Sheet metal, steel or aluminum fabrication
  • Commercial construction
Experience with sheet metal, steel or aluminum fabrication, commercial construction, or building enclosure would be a strong advantage.
