Perks: Positive, supportive Company culture, celebratory events, monthly Company lunches, and more PurposeAs we continue to grow and invest in our people, ACME is seeking a highly skilled Lead CNC Machinist for our 3rd shift, with a nightly schedule of either (4) 10 hour shifts or (5) 8 hour shifts. The Lead CNC Machinist is a hands-on machining position responsible for setting up and operating CNC equipment while providing daily leadership and support to the 3rd Shift machining team, including coordination of workflow, troubleshooting production and equipment issues, training and assisting team members, and promoting safe, efficient, and quality-focused manufacturing practices. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position located on-site at our headquarters and production facility in Walker, MI.
Responsibilities:
  • Correctly set-up and operate multiple CNC mills, lathes, and broaches in a production environment
  • Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece part inspection using calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools to ensure part is produced to spec
  • Work from CAD prints, other specifications to design, build and repair fixture, tools, gauges and any other items needed to aid in manufacturing process of the plant
  • De-burr, key, balance, and box final parts
  • Diagnose, correct, and maintain equipment and tool issues
  • Provide day-today direction and support to other team members within the assigned work area
  • Assist team members with machine setups, troubleshooting, inspection requirements, tooling and process questions
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to machining and production issues while working collaboratively with engineering, quality, production and other departments to resolve issues
  • Maintain workstation and equipment to 5S standards
  • Operate other machinery such as forklifts, air compressors, broaches
  • Make recommendations to optimize and improve processes
  • Comply with all AMG policies and procedures

  • Multiple years of prior experience with successfully operating CNC controlled machinery
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to contribute in a cross-collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot CNC machines, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to train and assist other employee
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors and other departments
  • Proficient in CAD/GD&T and Blueprint reading
  • Basic MS Office Word and Excel skills
Requirements:
  • High school diploma/equivalent or higher; additional technical education preferred
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship or equivalent combination of education and experience 5+ years of relevant CNC machining experience
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically
