About the role
Produce Associate The Produce Associate plays a vital role in managing and maintaining the produce section of our store. Responsibilities include ordering, stocking, trimming, watering, rotating, and displaying fresh produce to ensure high quality and availability. The Produce Associate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the produce cases and ensuring the freshness of all items. Additionally, the associate will assist with unloading deliveries, address customer inquiries, and actively contribute to increasing sales by recommending additional products to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide outstanding customer service. Keeps produces cases, shelves, and displays full. Ensures all areas of cost control are monitored continuously. Prepares fresh produce for display. Looks for and removes defective produce. Prepare fruit baskets for customers. Fills bags of ice and ensures freezer is kept full for customer purchase. Maintains cases and display areas daily to provide an attractive setting that will appeal to customers. Maintains a variety and freshness of all products. Ensures a clean work area at all times. Maintains excellent personal hygiene habits. Follows all safety and security procedures. Takes out trash and disposes of cardboard. Performs daily cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping. May assist on front-end with cashier and carryout duties as needed. Any other responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Work Environment:
May be exposed to all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, ice and wind) as well as, inside work with variations in heat, cold, dust, and humidity.
Must be able to perform work inside of walk-in cooler and freezer. This role also requires one to be able to perform work inside of a preparation room which is kept at a cooler temperature than room temperature.
Fast paced retail environment.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently moves, lifts, and carries merchandise and supplies weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Occasionally moves, lifts, and carries merchandise and supplies weighing less than or equal to 100 pounds. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting with or without bearing weight. Occasionally required to climb and/or crawl. Stands or walks continuously throughout the shift. Qualifications & Other Job Requirements: Previous experience in a retail or grocery environment preferred but not required. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Minimum age requirement = 18 years old.
