Technical Sales Manager The Technical Sales Manager drives the sales of thermal management equipment by providing technical expertise and guidance. This position focuses on reviewing specifications, analyzing mechanical drawings, and collaborating closely with Account Managers to help meet customer needs and drive business growth.
Responsibilities include: Owning the technical solution strategy for major opportunities (multi-site, custom configurations).Governing compliance to specs; authoring and negotiating exceptions/alternates. Leading cross-functional technical working sessions with sales, offering management, and engineering. Producing high-fidelity technical proposals (system architectures, integration details, control narratives).Signing off on critical technical deliverables and readiness for FWTs; leading onsite technical presence as needed. Driving standardization of submittal templates and processes; implementing lessons learned. Acting as the primary technical liaison with strategic customers for opportunity-specific matters. Serving as the SME for Vertiv during customer visits and industry events as needed. Staying informed on industry trends, technologies, and materials to support continuous improvement and innovation. Providing feedback to product managers to help guide product enhancements and future development. Helping to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the department. Providing training and mentorship to less experienced team members.
Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.8–10 years of technical sales/application engineering experience with proven success in complex deals. Recognized SME in thermal systems; strong negotiation and risk management skills. Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive outcomes without formal authority. Physical and environmental demands include: No special physical requirements.
