School Social Worker
Qualifications:
  • School Social Worker certification required or meet requirements for full or temporary approval from MDEMust have strong understanding of special education eligibility requirements and evaluation procedures
  • Must have strong behavioral background with an emphasis on creating and implementing behavior plans and functional behavior assessments
  • Early childhood experience and developmental knowledge strongly preferred
  • Strong data analysis experience preferred
Description:
  • Support general and special education early childhood developmental needs by supporting students on and off caseload
  • Provides special education evaluations and service delivery within the building and community early childhood settings
  • Provide professional development on behavior and regulation strategies to teachers and administrators
  • Supports the RtI and MTSS framework development
  • Takes an active role in the child study process at the building level by addressing social-emotional and regulation needs for all students
  • Knowledge of community mental health agencies
  • Referrals to outside agencies
  • Classroom groups
  • Plans for individual students and small groups on targeted skills
  • Regular and consistent attendance
