About the role

Mechanical Engineering Manager – Power Generation Dallas, TX Verto People is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Manager for an energy infrastructure developer delivering new power generation projects. This is an opportunity to take responsibility for gas turbine engineering from equipment selection and design through installation, startup and ongoing performance. You’ll work closely with manufacturers, engineering teams and contractors, making technical decisions that directly influence how plants are built and operated. The position suits an engineer who understands the equipment, is comfortable resolving problems in the field, and can keep technical delivery aligned with project budgets and schedules.
The role: Lead turbine selection, assess supplier proposals and develop technical specifications for equipment procurement. Coordinate mechanical design with electrical, civil and wider project teams. Oversee installation and commissioning, resolving technical issues through startup. Analyze operating performance and recommend improvements to efficiency, availability and maintenance. Investigate equipment failures and develop practical measures to prevent recurrence. Work with OEMs, contractors and plant personnel to manage technical scope, quality and delivery. Ensure designs and site activities meet applicable engineering, safety and environmental standards. Your backgroundA degree in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline. At least five years of relevant mechanical engineering experience with gas turbines in power generation. Experience spanning turbine design, operation, maintenance and performance improvement. Knowledge of turbine auxiliaries, thermodynamics and mechanical systems. Experience with microgrids and integrating generation with solar and battery storage. Proficiency with relevant design and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, Thermoflow or GT PRO.Confidence coordinating suppliers and multidisciplinary teams through project delivery. Experience with combined-cycle plants, cogeneration, HRSGs or turbine controls would also be valuable.
