About the role
Fashion Design InternThis is an academic internship in exchange for school credit. A fixed stipend will be paid to interns on a monthly basis.7AM is seeking a highly motivated, resourceful and pro-active individual with great style and sophisticated design sensibilities. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure in all facets of a growing brand, to learn and work in a fun, dynamic and creative environment.The highly organized candidate will train and collaborate with the head designer and junior designer to create mood boards, cads, new tech packs for sampling of new line, follow up with factories about sampling process, prepare final tech pack for production and follow through to the completion of an approved final product.In addition, the candidate will shop print studios and fabric mills to scout for the newest fabrics and prints for the season. The candidate will take part in the development and selection of artwork, in addition to the preparations of the flat sketch design for new products and create design sketches for enhancements to existing products.Qualities/Skills:Eager to learnFull of ideasAble to design around concepts and to design flat sketchesFluent hand illustration skills are a definite plusSketching of sample garmentsIntuitive color sense, keen eye and great attention to detailUnderstanding of garment construction, specs and fitSophisticated taste with focus on creating quality productsPassion to design compelling and cutting-edge productsPreparing technical packages for final art, starting & completing final CAD presentations for salesAbility to work independently, to follow directions and to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentStrong time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlinesSolid organizational, and presentation skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsHands-on, inquisitive, creativeSelf-motivated and diligent worker who takes pride in their workProactively seeks out opportunities to maximize the businessHas a strong work ethic; works hardRequirements:Must be working towards a degree in fashion designExperience in children's wear is a plusProficient with CAD fashion software, Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Excel on a Mac platformMust be efficient with tech packs, fittings, comments and corrections*Applications without portfolio will not be reviewed.About us:Based in the vibrant city of New York, 7AM is an expanding, international, high-end children's gear and accessories company with distribution across many channels.
