About the role

Description: Nichols Portland, Inc - Wilcox (formerly APG Sintered Metals - Wilcox) Tend to molding presses, sizing presses, sintering furnaces, tumblers. Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements. Adjust temperature controls of ovens or other heating equipment. Load raw materials into production equipment. Feed materials or products into or through equipment. Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning. Notify others of jams, equipment repair or maintenance needs. Clean production equipment and work areas. Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications. Record operational or production data. Inspect products for defects. Stage product for further processing or shipment. Weigh products. Gather scrap material or products for reuse or disposal. Maintain housekeeping and safety in work area. Requirements: SKILLS NESSARARYKnowledge of how to operate molding presses, sintering furnaces, read micrometers, do basic math and reading. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); past experience in the powder metal industry LANGUAGE SKILLSExcellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSComputer knowledge and experience is required.
