Job Summary: The College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks adynamic and inspiring leader to serve as Director of theEntrepreneurship Center for Music (ECM). This is a full-time,9-month, teaching faculty appointment (non-tenure track) combinedwith a 12-month faculty director appointment. Employment willcommence on August 12, 2027. Who We Are: The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of thetop comprehensive music schools in the country. The College ofMusic offers seven degree programs in over 28 fields of study, atthe bachelor’s level through the doctorate. Our dedicated andencouraging community of 550 degree-seeking students, 80 full-timefaculty, 20 part-time faculty, and 40 professional, technical andadministrative staff produces over 350 performances and numerousguest lectures, masterclasses, and outreach events each year! Founded in 1998, the ECM currently supports an undergraduate MusicEntrepreneurship Certificate, coursework in career and businessplanning for musicians, and programming connecting students toentrepreneurial and professional pathways. The College of Musicseeks to grow this center's role and reach by expanding it as a hubfor career readiness, cross-campus collaboration, and communityengagement for music students at every level. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be The ECM Director will be responsible for ECM programming, teachcourses that build career readiness and entrepreneurial skills inmusic students, coordinate the College’s internship programs andlead associated experiential learning activities, and guide thelong-term vision and growth of the Center's programming and scope. Groundbreaking in its initial mission, the ECM was developed withthe intent to equip today’s music students with the skills andperspectives they need to build sustainable careers in the arts. Arts entrepreneurship as a field of study focuses on the continuingreinvention of how musicians and artists can thrive in a constantlyevolving cultural and economic landscape. As such, the Directorwill lead the Center's next chapter and help to define this missionin supplementing traditional musical education with the demands ofthe broader artistic community. What You Should Know This is a teaching-track faculty (non-tenure track) position thatwill be appointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or fullTeaching Professor. The appointment will be in addition to the12-month faculty director appointment.
What We Can Offer: Assistant Teaching Professor: $56,000 - $62,500
Associate Teaching Professor: $63,000 - $72,000 Teaching Professor: $72,500 - $79,500 Faculty Director stipend: 32% of base salary, paid out over 12months Onboarding assistance is available within departmentalguidelines

What We Require The next ECM Director should be an inspired leader, full of initiative to expand the scope of the ECM. We require: Master’s degree in music, arts administration, or a relatedfield, or equivalent professional experience. A strong, demonstrable record of leadership and entrepreneurialaccomplishments in and/or outside of an academic setting. Examplesmight include one or more of the following: Artistic leadership positions Founding or leading a business or venture Participating in grassroots focused organizations Forming connections between the professional and academicworlds Experience in administration for community based music schoolsand organizations Demonstrated history of securing grant funding Advancement and donor development experience Guiding emerging artists with professional and career readinessskills Demonstrated teaching experience, which may include classroomteaching, but also mentorship, workshop facilitation, studioinstruction, professional training, or other forms of instructionoutside a traditional classroom What We Would Like You to Have Doctoral degree in music, arts administration, or a relatedfield Demonstrated experience developing a music-related product orbusiness venture Demonstrated experience writing grants and securing funding forprograms or organizations Experience building community partnerships, particularly acrossinstitutional lines (university-to-community, nonprofit-to-institution, etc.) Experience directing a community-facing arts program Experience organizing grassroots or community-basedprograms Ability to network across arts, entrepreneurship, and/ornonprofit sectors Experience leading alumni engagement or professional mentorshipprogramming Demonstrated ability to envision and communicate possibilitiesfor university/college entrepreneurship centers or similarcross-disciplinary hubs In compliance with the Colorado Job Application Fairness Act, inany materials you submit, you may redact or remove age-identifyinginformation such as age, date of birth, or dates of schoolattendance or graduation.
