About the role

Fund Controller – Private Credit & Portfolio Analytics
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Hybrid; four days per week in office
Experience: 6–8 years preferred
We are partnering with an alternative investment manager seeking a Fund Controller for its U.S. debt platform. This opportunity combines fund accounting and financial reporting oversight with portfolio analytics, performance reporting, valuation support, and liquidity planning. Working closely with the investment team and partners across Treasury, Valuation, Investor Relations, Tax, and Legal, this individual will connect financial reporting with investment performance and deliver actionable insights to investors and senior leadership. A third-party administrator handles much of the underlying accounting and financial statement preparation, allowing this role to focus on review, controls, analysis, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee quarterly and annual fund reporting, reviewing administrator-prepared NAV packages, financial statements, investor capital accounts, and supporting schedules. Review loan accounting, management fees, investor allocations, preferred returns, and carried interest calculations. Manage administrator relationships and coordinate annual audits and tax-related deliverables. Maintain fund and investment return models, including IRR, MOIC, levered and unlevered returns, and gross-to-net analyses. Analyze portfolio performance, yields, concentrations, maturities, leverage, and the impact of repayments, defaults, restructurings, and valuation changes. Support valuation processes, business planning, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity analysis. Coordinate capital calls, distributions, investment fundings, and credit facility activity. Prepare investor and management reporting and support fundraising materials, due diligence requests, and portfolio updates. Improve reporting processes, analytical tools, automation, and financial controls.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Approximately 6–8 years of relevant experience in private funds, fund finance, portfolio analytics, alternative investments, or public accounting. Strong knowledge of private fund accounting, NAV, capital accounts, allocations, management fees, and waterfalls. Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, including cash flow forecasting and investment return analysis. Experience with private credit, lending funds, or commercial real estate debt is a plus. CPA and/or Big Four experience preferred. Experience overseeing a third-party fund administrator and supporting valuations preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate financial results and portfolio trends into clear reporting. Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and partner effectively across investment and finance teams. This is an opportunity for a hands-on fund finance professional who enjoys both accounting oversight and forward-looking investment analysis.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
