About This Position: The Langston University Police Department is now accepting applications for a full-time dispatch position. The Dispatcher is responsible for simultaneously operating a multi-channel radio console and a multi-line telephone, while maintaining computer-aided dispatch systems and other computer systems. Responsible for receiving, coordinating and disseminating critical information from various sources and maintaining radio contact with mobile/field units to monitor response, progress and any needed support. This position works in the communications center of the police station which is responsible for answering emergency calls.

Working Conditions: This position is based in a fast-paced, office environment using phones, computers, and radio systems. Dispatchers work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 operations. The role requires long periods of sitting, multitasking, and maintaining focus under pressure. Clear communication, quick decision-making, and emotional resilience are essential. Occasional high-stress situations may occur, especially when handling urgent or emergency requests.
