About the role

Senior Principal Software Engineer The Home Depot is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our Architecture & Design organization and lead the evolution of our enterprise mobile platform. This role will be responsible for driving mobile architecture strategy across both iOS and Android, guiding a large-scale modernization and re-platforming initiative, and helping engineering teams leverage AI-assisted development practices to improve delivery and innovation. The ideal candidate has deep expertise building and architecting large-scale mobile applications that serve millions of users. You will provide technical leadership across mobile engineering teams, evaluate emerging technologies, develop proof-of-concepts, and influence architecture decisions related to scalability, performance, observability, CI/CD, release management, and platform reliability. Candidates should have extensive experience with iOS and Android architecture, Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, Server Driven UI (SDUI), and Backend for Frontend (BFF) patterns. Successful candidates will have a proven track record leading mobile modernization efforts, delivering products from concept through production, and influencing technical strategy across large organizations. This role will also help shape the adoption of AI-assisted and Agentic AI development practices, identifying opportunities to accelerate software delivery and improve developer productivity. Experience in large-scale retail, eCommerce, or Fortune 500 environments is highly preferred. This is a fully remote opportunity with a preference for candidates located in Atlanta, Austin, or Dallas. Limited travel may be required for planning and collaboration sessions. Direct hire is preferred, though exceptional contract-to-hire candidates will be considered. Compensation includes a target base salary of $240,000-$250,000 with flexibility up to $280,000 for highly qualified candidates, plus bonus and equity.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
