About the role
An established manufacturer of concrete building products is hiring a Director of Engineering for a Florida operation. The company sells to residential and commercial builders and is adding to its product line. This role owns product design, building code compliance, and technical sign-off on what the company makes and sells. It steps into an established engineering function. A Florida-licensed engineer with concrete products experience gets the top engineering seat, with a path to a broader leadership role. Base to $200K, dependent on experience Annual performance bonus, 25% to 30% target, based on company and individual performance Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, and optional short- and long-term disability In office, Monday through Friday
Overview:
Design new concrete products and improve existing ones, balancing structural performance, code requirements, manufacturing capability, and cost Act as the licensed engineer who signs off on product performance and specifications Prepare and maintain state and local product approvals, including testing, submissions, revisions, and renewals Keep product drawings, calculations, specifications, and installation details current Support customers, architects, engineers, building officials, sales, manufacturing, and quality Investigate field and product performance issues and deliver practical fixes Track building code and industry standard changes and decide how they affect the product line Represent the company with code bodies and industry associations, subject to appointment Preferred skills and experience Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or a related engineering discipline Strongly preferred: active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license Strongly preferred: 10+ years in concrete products, structural building products, or a related field Experience preparing structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical submissions Working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and applicable concrete standards Experience designing reinforced or prestressed concrete components used in masonry construction Experience obtaining and maintaining Florida product approvals Experience taking a new product from testing and approval into production Participation in building code or concrete industry committees Ability to communicate with customers, manufacturing personnel, design professionals, and government agencies Keywords Director of Engineering, Engineering Director, Professional Engineer, PE, Florida PE, civil engineer, structural engineer, concrete products, prestressed concrete, concrete components, masonry construction, building products, Florida Building Code, product approval, ASTM, structural calculations, code compliance, product development, product design, manufacturing, FloridaEEO
