About the role
Our Client, a Major Data & Analytics Company is seeking a Senior MySQL Database Administrator with strong production support experience in Linux/Unix environments. This role will focus on MySQL replication, performance tuning, database lifecycle management, automation, and supporting highly available database environments. Details Remote EST
Duration: 6-month W2 contract with potential extension/conversion
Must-Have:
- Skills 5+ years of MySQL DBA experience in Linux/Unix environments
- Expert-level MySQL administration (5.6, 5.7, 8.0)
- Strong experience with MySQL Replication, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery
- Database performance tuning and production support
Backup and recovery experience (Percona/XtraBackup)SQL and Linux Shell scripting 2+ years of DevOps experience using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, GitLab, etc.
Experience with Python, Perl, or similar scripting languages
Experience supporting production and development database environments
Requirements:
- 5+ years managing database lifecycle operations
- Experience with MySQL patching and major version upgrades
- Experience supporting Data Warehousing and ETL processing
- Knowledge of cloud and virtualized environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, Proxmox preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
