About the Role: Our client is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead a team of Vehicle Operators (VOs) and ensure they understand and execute both short- and long-term operational goals. This is a hands-on player-coach role. You will work alongside Vehicle Operators each day, leading by example and ensuring software and hardware testing activities are performed safely, consistently, and to a high standard. You will also partner with other Fleet Operations leaders to coordinate safe, efficient day-to-day vehicle fleet operations. The ideal candidate is a disciplined, proactive team player with strong ownership, sound judgment, and a commitment to safety, operational excellence, teamwork, and employee development. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and support Vehicle Operators in daily fleet operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures, safety standards, and operational goals.- Foster a safety-first, inclusive, and open-communication culture across the team.- Act as a hands-on player-coach by working alongside team members and demonstrating expected standards and behaviors.- Ensure software and hardware testing activities are executed accurately, safely, and consistently.- Coordinate team schedules, shift assignments, operational coverage, and required administrative activities.- Monitor team performance and provide regular written and verbal feedback, coaching, mentoring, and development.- Motivate team members to consistently meet operational, safety, quality, and performance expectations.- Develop strong working knowledge of proprietary vehicle-operations software, systems, tools, and procedures.- Serve as a point of contact for contractors, answering questions, clarifying responsibilities, and ensuring assigned work is understood and completed correctly.- Support operational missions in a variety of roles both inside and outside vehicles.- Collaborate with Fleet Operations leadership and other cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve operational efficiency.- Identify operational problems proactively, develop practical solutions, and use available resources effectively.- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Qualifications: - 1+ year of autonomous vehicle operator experience and an active Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) permit.- Experience working effectively in a highly collaborative operational environment.- Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork and maintain strong working relationships.- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.- Proactive, resourceful, and accountable approach to work.- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical or operational issues clearly to team members and management.- Excellent driving history.- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, fast-paced operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - 1+ year of experience working for the client as an employee or contractor in a Vehicle Operations role.- 2+ years of autonomous vehicle industry or vehicle operations experience.- Previous experience as an instructor, lead, supervisor, or manager within an operations environment.- Experience leading or managing highly cross-functional teams.
