Blood Bank Coordinator - ASCPA well-established hospital near Charleston, WV, seeks a dedicated Blood Bank Coordinator to manage blood bank and transfusion services operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant practices in patient care and blood handling.
Primary Responsibilities: Oversee blood collection, storage, and transfusion activities to ensure smooth daily operations. Ensure compliance with FDA, AABB, CAP, and CLIA standards, performing quality checks for blood product integrity. Manage blood supply inventory and liaise with suppliers for reliable stock levels. Support and guide lab technicians, and conduct training on safety protocols and best practices. Maintain detailed records of all blood bank operations, from inventory to transfusions, ensuring policy and legal adherence. Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate accurate patient testing and cross-matching.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field. Certification: ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) or Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) preferred.
Experience: 2+ years in blood bank or lab settings, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Skills: Knowledge of blood bank protocols, attention to detail, experience with LIS, and strong organizational skills.
