About the role
The Principal MEMS Development Engineer will drive the technical definition and execution of next-generation silicon Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) timing products. This role requires a blend of scientific research and practical engineering to design, simulate, and characterize high-performance resonators. Working at the intersection of mechanics, electrodynamics, and thermodynamics, you will lead complex technical projects to push the boundaries of MEMS technology. As a technical leader, you will advise management on key directions, design experiments to understand device physics, and collaborate with process teams to optimize yields. This onsite position offers the opportunity to directly impact the design, measurement automation, and manufacturing scalability of world-class timing devices.
Responsibilities:
Lead the definition, design, and execution of complex technical projects to develop next-generation MEMS resonators and products.
Design MEMS devices and characterize their electrical, mechanical, and thermal performance at both wafer and device levels.
Collaborate with fabrication and process teams to drive continuous improvement in MEMS yields and manufacturing quality.
Extend and enhance automated infrastructure for MEMS design, testing measurements, and data analysis.
Design and execute experiments to investigate device physics, materials behavior, and fabrication outcomes.
Advise engineering leadership on technical challenges, project impacts, and strategic recommendations.
Interface with local and overseas vendors and collaborate with cross-functional teams including circuits, systems, and packaging.
Requirements:
Principal-level experience with a Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent field, and at least 3 years of industry experience (8+ years preferred).
C2 English level or higher.
Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of mechanics, electrodynamics, thermodynamics, and MEMS device physics.
Proven experience designing MEMS devices and characterizing their electrical, mechanical, and thermal performance at the wafer and device levels.
Proficiency with finite element simulation tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS.
Hands-on experience with data processing and analysis tools, specifically Matlab or Python.
Ability to work strictly onsite 5 days a week in Santa Clara, CA or Ann Arbor, MI.
Hands-on experience with Semiconductor Physics, Finite Element Analysis, R or.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
