About the role

Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Eastern suburb of Cleveland, OH Compensation: The compensation will be consist of base salary commensurate with experience + Performance based bonus + Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, HSA, life insurance, 401k with match) + Paid time off and company holidays + Condensed schedule: 9-hrs per day Monday through Thursday, 4-hrs on Friday Opportunity Summary: We’re partnering with an innovative and growing design and manufacturing company that delivers custom mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical solutions to the Military, Defense, and Medical Device industries. This privately held, financially strong organization is poised for significant growth, and they’re currently seeking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer to their team. This role will support the design, development, and improvement of electronic products (including communication accessories and cable assemblies) as well as medical devices. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary engineering team to create and revise mechanical designs, generate and maintain technical documentation, and support manufacturing. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is based at the company headquarters in an eastern suburb of Cleveland, OH. Job Duties: Collaborate with a team of engineers to support new product development, improve existing products, and address customer orders requiring revisions to current designs Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including: Part, assembly, and tooling drawings Work instructions and manufacturing documentation Test fixtures and validation tools Bills of Materials (BOMs)Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)Develop cost estimates and quotations for new products and design changes Support the Production Manager and Manufacturing Engineers with technical needs to ensure efficient and repeatable manufacturing processes Interface with the Engineering Manager to support customer requirements and contribute to business development and technical sales activities Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability Conduct engineering analysis and qualification testing to identify weaknesses, failures, and improvement opportunities in prototypes and production products Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills in both lab and production environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-team collaboration.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical systems design, ideally in military, aerospace, defense, or medical device industries. Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies for electronic products Experience with cable assemblies, connectors, and electromechanical products Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solid Works preferred) Strong knowledge of mechanical drawings and design documentation standards Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, and assembly Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO, 9001, ISO 13485, FDA, or similar quality systems) Knowledge of test and validation methods for mechanical and electromechanical systems Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Keywords: Mechanical Design Engineer, BSME, Mechanical Engineering, 3D CAD, Solid Works, ISO, 9001, ISO 13485, FDA
