About the role
Policy Wording Specialist – R&W Insurance – New York Angove Partners is partnering with a leading underwriter, seeking a Policy Wording Specialist to join their R&W Insurance team in New York. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong experience in policy drafting and wording within the transactional risk insurance market, looking to join a highly regarded and growing platform. What is the role? As a Policy Wording Specialist, you will play a key role in the development, drafting, and negotiation of R&W insurance policies. Working closely with underwriting, broking, and legal teams, you will provide technical expertise across a range of complex M&A transactions in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. What will you be doing? Draft, review, and negotiate R&W insurance policy wordings across a broad range of M&A transactions. Work closely with underwriters, brokers, clients, and legal advisers to ensure policy language accurately reflects agreed commercial terms and risk allocation. Provide technical guidance on policy interpretation, coverage, exclusions, definitions, and bespoke endorsements. Review transaction documentation and identify key issues that may impact policy wording and coverage. Support the underwriting team throughout the transaction lifecycle, from initial structuring through to binding. Develop and maintain standard policy wordings, clauses, and precedents in line with evolving market practice. Monitor developments across the R&W market and contribute to improvements in products, processes, and wording. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, brokers, and external advisers. What do you need to apply to this role? We anticipate that candidates will have strong experience in insurance policy drafting, ideally within R&W/W&I or transactional risk. Experience within an MGA, insurer, broker, or law firm is relevant, with a strong understanding of M&A transactions and the wider transactional risk market highly advantageous. Alternatively, if this role is not for you but you would like to discuss other opportunities within the Transactional Risk sector, please do get in touch.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
