About the role
A venture-backed artificial intelligence company is seeking a Founding AI Product Counsel to help shape the future of AI governance, risk management, and product development. This role offers the opportunity to join an early-stage team building technology designed to help organizations deploy AI solutions in highly regulated environments. Working alongside founders, product leaders, and engineers, you will play a key role in translating complex legal and regulatory concepts into scalable products and workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues impacting AI-powered products
- Partner with product and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle
- Develop practical frameworks related to AI governance, compliance, risk, and responsible deployment
- Monitor and interpret emerging AI regulations and industry standards
- Support customer-facing discussions involving legal, regulatory, and risk considerations
- Contribute to strategic product decisions and long-term platform development
- Help build foundational legal and operational processes within a rapidly scaling organization
Qualifications:
- J.D. and active U.S. bar membership 4-10 years of relevant legal experience
- Experience supporting technology products, emerging technologies, privacy, regulatory, or compliance matters
- Strong interest in artificial intelligence and the evolving legal landscape surrounding AIAbility to communicate effectively across legal, business, and technical audiences
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

- Compensation includes base salary & equity.
