About the role
Anesthesia Technologist
Hours: 1:30 PM – 10:30 PM; includes holidays, weekends, and on-call as needed.
Specific Responsibilities:
Patient Care Support: Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia by preparing equipment, placing monitors, ensuring cleanliness, and setting up medications and supplies. Communicate continuously with anesthesiologists, residents, and other medical staff to meet their requirements. Assist with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters. (20%)Equipment Operation: Operate the cell-saver machine, track lab reports, and participate in advanced surgical cases including cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma surgeries. Provide on-call coverage as necessary. (20%)Equipment Maintenance: Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and preventive maintenance is performed. Set up and operate advanced equipment while serving as the key resource for specialized equipment usage and maintenance. (20%)Training Assistance: Collaborate with the Chief Anesthesia Technologist to develop and implement in-service training programs and assist in training staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist. (15%)Troubleshooting: Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting, including testing infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, transport monitors, and calibrating anesthesia machines. (15%)Room Setup: Set up operating rooms and carts between cases while ensuring the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Support ectopic procedures for anesthesia care by ensuring the proper equipment is in place. (5%)Backup Support: Provide backup support to the shift supervisor in their absence and perform additional duties assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Chief Anesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager. (5%)
Required Qualifications: BLS certification Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist
Preferred Qualifications:
A four-year college education including technical training, or a two-year college education with related technical training and two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized certifying body is preferred
