First Presbyterian Church is a PC(USA) church that celebrated 100 years of ministry in 2023. FPC is a warm and welcoming congregation of all ages with worship services at 8:30 and 11am on Sunday mornings, and is thriving and growing.
Position: Interim Associate Pastor for Christian Formation and Fellowship
First Presbyterian seeks a candidate who will work closely on an interim basis with the Senior Pastor, Director of Youth and Young Professionals Ministries, and Director of Senior Adult Ministries to lead the Christian formation for all ages at FPC, and work closely with the Fellowship Committee to provide meaningful opportunities for fellowship within the life of the church. The position will include teaching children, teens, and adults, coordinating volunteers, managing a portion of the church budget, preaching monthly, assisting with pastoral care as needed, and leading programs within the church.
Compensation:
Minimum effective salary of $60,000, with pension and full benefits package provided.
Responsibilities
Christian Education:
Lead Christian Education (CE) Committee in exploring new opportunities; work with CE Committee, Senior Pastor, and other staff to plan, resource, and cast vision for a comprehensive CE program for all ages;
Strengthen ministry to families through Sunday School, outreach, and additional opportunities for involvement;
Evaluates and recommends curriculum for use in Sunday School for all ages;
Lead Sunday School teacher recruitment, training, support and supervision;
Work with the Beach Day School (BDS) Director in promoting cooperation between the school and FPC, and serve as a resource for BDS;
Work with Senior Pastor and Youth Director in the teaching and leading of a strong Confirmation Program;
Fellowship
Serve as staff liaison to Fellowship Committee;
Work with Fellowship Committee to continue/enhance traditional Fellowship events, exploring new possibilities for church fellowship;
Worship Leadership
Preach 12 times annually; share in worship leadership with Senior Pastor each Sunday;
Collaborate with Senior Pastor and music staff to plan meaningful worship services;
Officiate weddings and funerals as needed.
Pastoral Care
As needed, assist Senior Pastor with pastoral care visits and calls.
