About the role
Senior CPE Software Engineer – Broadband & Wireless Devices Denver, CO or New York, NY (Hybrid)Millions of homes connect through the devices this team builds. We're looking for an experienced CPE engineer to help design, develop and optimise the next generation of gateways, cable modems and wireless extenders for one of the most recognisable names in connectivity. You'll be based in either our Denver or New York office and will work with hardware, network and product teams across both sites. Your work will take features from early prototypes to devices running at scale in customers' homes. What you'll be working on Developing and maintaining embedded software for residential gateways, DOCSIS cable modems and Wi-Fi mesh devices Building and integrating features on RDK-B (and RDK-V exposure is a bonus), including middleware, device management and telemetry Improving Wi-Fi performance across Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 platforms: band steering, mesh optimisation, airtime fairness and client experience Supporting 5G Fixed Wireless Access and LTE/5G failover features on next-generation CPEWorking with SoC vendors (Broadcom, Qualcomm, Max Linear and similar) on BSP bring-up, driver integration and issue resolution Diagnosing complex field issues using logs, packet captures and remote telemetry, and turning findings into long-term fixes Contributing to architecture decisions, code reviews and mentoring within a growing engineering team
What we're looking for:
Strong embedded C/C++ experience on Linux-based platforms Hands-on experience with CPE devices in a cable, telco or broadband environment Working knowledge of DOCSIS 3.1 (DOCSIS 4.0 exposure is a plus)Solid understanding of Wi-Fi standards (802.11ax/be), and experience with hostapd, wpa_supplicant or vendor Wi-Fi stacks Experience with RDK-B, prplOS or Open Wrt Exposure to 5G NR / FWA, Yocto or build systems, and scripting (Python/Bash) is a strong advantage Direct RDK experience is desirable.
