Shape the Future of Transportation in the Mid-Atlantic RegionGPI is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our growing Transportation practice in Columbia, MD. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives on solving complex traffic and mobility challenges while leading projects, mentoring staff, and building strong client relationships.
Responsibilities: Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning projects for state, county, and municipal clients. Perform and oversee traffic impact studies, operational analyses, safety studies, signal design, and corridor evaluations. Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring technical excellence. Develop traffic modeling and simulation analyses using industry-standard software. Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams. Mentor junior engineers and support staff development initiatives. Participate in business development activities, proposal preparation, and client presentations. Support strategic growth initiatives within the transportation practice.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.8+ years of traffic engineering and transportation planning experience.
  • Experience with traffic operations, roadway safety analyses, traffic signal systems, and transportation studies.
  • Proficiency with Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, Trans
  • Modeler, or similar traffic analysis software.
  • Familiarity with Maryland DOT, local agency standards, and MUTCD requirements preferred.
  • Strong project management, client development, and team leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
