Company Description: T.D. McMurry is a specialty shop focused on essential garments that help individuals express personal style through what they wear and how they wear it.
Role Description: The Sales Associate is a part-time, on-site role based at the T.D. McMurry shops in Downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant, SC. In this role, the Sales Associate welcomes customers, learns about their preferences, and helps them discover garments that fit their style and comfort needs. Daily responsibilities include providing attentive customer service, maintaining product displays, restocking merchandise, and keeping the shop clean and organized. They also support fitting and styling, processing transactions at the point of sale (Shopify), and share product knowledge about fabric, fit, and care. This role contributes to the store’s community atmosphere by engaging visitors, promoting events or new collections, and ensuring an inviting experience for everyone who walks in.
Qualifications: Customer service and retail sales skills, including the ability to engage visitors, understand their needs, and provide thoughtful product recommendations. Merchandising and store operations skills, such as organizing displays, maintaining a tidy environment, and handling basic inventory tasks. Point-of-sale and cash handling skills, with accuracy in processing payments, returns, and exchanges. Communication and interpersonal skills, including clear spoken communication and the ability to build rapport with a diverse customer base. Interest in clothing, style, and craftsmanship, with a willingness to learn about fabrics, fits, and garment care. Reliability and time management, including the ability to work part-time shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Previous retail or hospitality experience is preferred but not required; a strong customer-focused mindset is essential.
