About the role

Animal Resource Center (ARC) Coordinator Through transparent communication and resources, the mission of the Animal Resource Center is to inform and empower the public to support the animals in their communities. The Animal Resource Center staff support the welfare of the animals and community served by Pasadena Humane by acting as frontline team members in customer care. The Animal Resource Center staff work with members of the public, staff, and volunteers to assist with animal-related appointments, intakes, and reunifications and ensuring all general inquiries from the members of public are addressed. They support the community through high-quality customer service; delivery of public services; coordinated admissions; problem solving; offering alternatives to intake; providing resources to help keep animals in their homes and out of the shelter; and helping ensure the welfare of the animals in our community. The ARC Coordinator also supports the ARC Manager with addressing customer care concerns and service issues, as well as troubleshooting, problem-solving, and monitoring SNiP services and works with ARC Associates to help case manage, track, and document an individual customer's animal welfare needs via email, phone call, and in-person appointments and refer to the appropriate internal departments and outside resources, as needed. Additionally, the ARC Coordinator tracks department data and coordinates with all other departments at the shelter to ensure quality customer care and animal care. This position provides critical emergency services and may be required to work to ensure essential and emergency services are maintained in order to meet operational requirements.
Requirements and qualifications include: High school diploma (or GED/proficiency certificate).Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment. Two years of experience working in any of the following: animal welfare, animal rescue, social work, veterinary or human services. One year of experience in a leadership role. Specific training in supervision or leadership may be considered. Well-developed interpersonal, public speaking, and communication skills. Experience working in an open admissions shelter strongly preferred. Experience handling domestic animals and/or wildlife in a medical, zoological, rehabilitation, agricultural or research setting strongly preferred. Knowledge of normal cat and dog behavior strongly preferred. Knowledge of low stress handling and restraint techniques for domestic animals and wildlife preferred. Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. High competency in a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and email. Strong sense of professional judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to perform multiple tasks and manage several projects simultaneously. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Must be able to model Pasadena Humane's Core Values of Learning, Integrity Collaboration and Kindness. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must provide positive, proactive customer service. Must have a positive attitude and a sense of humor. Work schedule requires regular attendance and punctuality. Must be available to work early hours, weekends, and holidays according to the needs of the department schedule. Working conditions include a fast-paced environment with exposure to numerous animals (living and deceased), requiring safe and responsible actions. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, handling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and various vision abilities.
