About the role

Area Sales Manager - North America $120,000 to $150,000 + Performance-related Bonus + Car Allowance + BenefitsUSA - Remote / Home Based with International TravelAre you an experienced technical sales professional with a track record of developing markets, winning new business and building long-term relationships with international customers? Do you combine strong commercial instincts with the technical understanding required to sell complex machinery, systems or engineered solutions? Our client is a highly successful, internationally recognised manufacturer of specialist automated machinery and engineered systems. With an established global customer base and a strong reputation for technical innovation, they are looking to appoint an ambitious Area Sales Manager to further develop their position across North America.
The Role: You will take ownership of the commercial development of the NA region, managing existing key accounts while proactively identifying and converting new opportunities. This is not a transactional sales position. Solutions are developed around individual customer requirements, meaning you will work closely with engineering and technical teams to understand applications, identify challenges and develop commercially and technically appropriate solutions. You will manage the full sales cycle, from initial opportunity identification and solution development through quotation, commercial negotiation and ultimately securing the order.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and executing the sales strategy for the territory
  • Growing business with existing customers while proactively targeting new accounts
  • Identifying market trends, customer requirements and new commercial opportunities
  • Generating and developing new projects and qualified leads
  • Working alongside international engineering teams to translate customer requirements into technical solutions
  • Preparing quotations, calculations and commercial proposals
  • Negotiating commercial terms and closing complex capital equipment projects
  • Developing relationships with customers, partners, agents and other stakeholders
  • Representing the business at international exhibitions, trade shows and industry events
  • The Candidate
The successful candidate will be proactive, entrepreneurial and commercially driven with a technical background, who enjoys developing markets rather than simply managing incoming enquiries. You will ideally have: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical discipline. A minimum of five years’ relevant commercial experience. Experience selling technical products, machinery, automation or engineered systems in either process or packaging industries. A background within machinery manufacturing, automation or a comparable engineering environment. Demonstrable experience developing new business and building long-term customer relationships. Strong commercial awareness, including experience preparing and reviewing quotations and costing calculations. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. The flexibility and willingness to travel internationally. Previous experience selling complex capital equipment or bespoke engineered solutions into the bakery and/or confectionery industry would be particularly advantageous.
The Opportunity: This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and growing international engineering organisation in a position offering genuine autonomy, responsibility and ownership. You will be given the freedom to develop your territory as your own business, backed by an experienced technical and commercial team capable of delivering highly engineered solutions to customers worldwide. If you are an ambitious technical sales professional who enjoys opening doors, developing markets and winning complex projects, we would like to hear from you. Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
