About the role

We are partnering with a rapidly growing company in the hospitality industry to identify an experienced Controller to lead its Accounting organization. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, entrepreneurial business experiencing significant growth and help build the financial infrastructure needed to support its next stage of scale. The Controller will own the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting while leading accounting operations, strengthening internal controls, improving systems and processes, and developing a high-performing accounting team. We’re looking for a hands-on leader who can operate at both the strategic and detailed level and is comfortable building within a fast-paced, evolving organization.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the Accounting function and oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP, treasury, lease accounting and related functions. Own monthly, quarterly and annual close and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Strengthen financial reporting, accounting policies, documentation and internal controls as the organization continues to scale. Serve as the technical accounting subject-matter expert across complex accounting matters. Lead external audits and continue developing the control environment to support future SOX/public-company readiness. Oversee accounting related to new locations, capital expenditures, fixed assets, leases and development activity. Partner closely with Finance, Operations and other functional leaders across the organization. Drive improvements across financial systems, automation and accounting processes. Build, coach and develop a high-performing Accounting organization.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA strongly preferred.10+ years of progressive accounting experience with meaningful leadership responsibility. Experience within a complex, multi-unit or high-growth organization. Hospitality, retail and other multi-location industry experience strongly preferred. Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and strong technical accounting capabilities. Experience leading complex close processes, external audits and internal-control development. SOX and/or public-company experience strongly preferred. Experience implementing, optimizing or scaling ERP and financial systems. Track record of building and scaling accounting teams, processes and infrastructure. Public accounting experience is a plus. Strong executive communication skills and a hands-on, builder mentality.
