Summary: Provides optical care by measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames according to written optical prescription or specification. Assists customers in selecting frames. Prepares work orders for optical laboratory and verifies exactness of finished glasses.
Job Duties: Adjusts frame and lens position to fit the client and for optimal vision. Complies with the organization's established policies. Measures client's bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, papillary distance, and optical centers of eye measuring devices. Evaluates prescription in conjunction with client's vocational and avocational visual requirements. Prepares work order and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating glasses. Recommends specific lenses, lens coating, and frames to suit client needs. Updates patient chart with pertinent patient information.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED2 years optical dispensing experience with proficient skills for dispensing, fitting repair of glasses. ABO - American Board of Opticianry Certification - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree National Contact Lens Examiners - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
