2026 General Election AssistantAssists the City Clerk in the administration, and execution of various duties in connection with the 2026 General ElectionExamples Of DutiesAssist voters with early voting and serve as a member of the Absentee Ballot Board.Complete election training as required to help in the administration of election services for the City.Answer general inquiries from the public about voting locations, voter registration, absentee voting.Assist with election equipment testing to ensure accuracy of equipment.Assists with preparation of election supplies.Assist in record retention of election information and other documents including scanning and data entry.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Must be a United States citizenMust be an eligible voter in the State of MinnesotaMust be able to read, write and speak EnglishMust not be the spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling or stepsibling of any election judge serving in the same precinct or of any candidate at that electionMust not be domiciled, either permanently or temporarily, with any candidate on the ballot at that electionMust not be a candidate at that electionHigh school diploma or equivalent.Two years' experience working with Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.Two years' experience in providing customer service or related positionDesired Qualifications:Experience with elections and the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) absentee ballot module.Experience with Laserfiche Software System and scanning equipment.Experience working in a local government officeKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully in both written and oral form in responding to inquiries from City staff and the public.Demonstrates excellent organizational and problem solving skills.Ability to do highly detailed and accurate work.Knowledge of basic government and elections principles, practices, and terminology.Strong ability to research, analyze, provide options, and resolve complicated problems.Flexibility and ability to handle changing priorities.Ability to work under tight deadlines and in peak workloads.Ability to work cooperatively and deal tactfully with all internal and external customers. Ability to work and make decisions independently.Supplemental InformationThis is a 40+ hour per week position with a primary focus on assisting with early voting at Columbia Heights City Hall. The anticipated start date will be October 14th with the position concluding on or about November 18, 2026. The hours will primarily be 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
