This is an excellent opportunity for an OB/GYN who wants to remain clinically active inhigh- and low-risk obstetrics, emergent gynecology, and surgical carewhile stepping away from the traditional demands of private practice. The hospitalist model provides a predictable shift-based schedule withno on-call responsibilities, allowing physicians to fully disconnect when they are off. You'll practice at a major statewide referral center with one of Wisconsin's onlyLevel IV Obstetrical Units, directly connected to aLevel IV NICU, while teaching the next generation of physicians in a highly collaborative academic environment. Clinical Responsibilities Managehigh-risk obstetric patients Manage low-risk obstetric patients Provide hospital-based labor and delivery care Evaluate and manageemergent gynecologic conditions Perform surgical procedures when clinically necessary Collaborate closely with Labor & Delivery nurses Work alongside midwives Coordinate care with attending physicians and other hospital staff Participate in a highly integrated multidisciplinary care environment The hospital serves as astatewide referral center, providing exposure to patients across a broad range of clinical complexity. Schedule & Work-Life Balance One of the most attractive aspects of this position is its clearly defined hospitalist schedule. 12-hour shifts 14 shifts per month Approximately168 scheduled hours per month Balanced mix of weeknights, weekends, and holidays No traditional on-call duties Additional shifts available if desired. Academic Expectations: Teaching is primarily incorporated into the physician's scheduled clinical shifts. Unlike a traditional private-practice OB/GYN model, physicians canfully disconnect on their days off, providing greater predictability for personal time, family, travel, and wellness. For experienced OB/GYNs, the hospitalist structure can also provide a sustainable way to continue practicing the specialty without the ongoing demands associated with managing a private outpatient practice. High-Acuity Obstetrics Physicians practice within a major academic referral environment capable of managing highly complex obstetrical patients. The Birth Center features one of the onlyLevel IV Obstetrical Units in Wisconsin, directly connected to the Level IV NICU at Children's Wisconsin. This creates an excellent clinical environment for an OB/GYN who enjoys: High-risk obstetrics Complex maternal care Collaborative multidisciplinary medicine Academic medicine Teaching Hospital-based OB/GYN Working within a tertiary referral environment Volume: Annual delivery volume is approximately 4,500. 2 physicians in house on L&D. This role is in the OBED Academic & Teaching Opportunities Teaching is an integral component of this position. The incoming physician will have opportunities toteach and mentor residents, fellows, and medical studentswho are actively involved in patient care. The position provides the ability to combine hands-on clinical medicine with academic involvement without requiring the physician to maintain a traditional outpatient practice. Many physicians within the division also hold leadership roles throughout the medical school and affiliated hospital system, creating opportunities for continued professional and academic development. Established General OB/GYN Division You'll join a substantial Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology consisting of: 26 faculty and staff physicians 7 Advanced Practice Providers Clinical operations across12 diverse practice settings The division provides care throughout affiliated academic hospitals, children's healthcare facilities, and the VA system. This creates a large network of physician colleagues and clinical resources while maintaining a strong emphasis on collaborative, team-based care. Compensation The position provides: $370,000 annually (14 shifts per month) CME is $4,000 annually. Qualifications: Candidates should possess: MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology Wisconsin medical license or eligibility to obtain Wisconsin licensure Strong interest in hospital-based obstetric and gynecologic care Ability to manage both high- and low-risk obstetric patients Ability to manage emergent gynecologic conditions Interest in working within an academic and multidisciplinary environment Commitment to teaching and mentoring physicians in training Why Milwaukee?
