About the role:
We are seeking a high-impact Controller to join Blue Sky Supply Chain and Logistics, a growing global logistics business operating in a fast-moving, operationally driven environment. This role is designed for a hands-on finance leader who wants full ownership of the accounting function, working closely with leadership, logistics, and operations to ensure financials accurately reflect day-to-day business activity. You will take end-to-end responsibility for accounting, billing, and financial reporting, bringing structure, accuracy, and visibility into a complex logistics environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being both hands-on and strategic—building processes, strengthening controls, and providing clear insight into performance, margins, and profitability as the business continues to scale.
Responsibilities:
Own and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting Oversee billing activities, ensuring revenue and cost of sales are recorded accurately and in the correct period Maintain integrity of the general ledger through regular reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and key financial data Analyze shipment and job-level profitability, identifying discrepancies and ensuring accurate margin reporting Manage accounts receivable processes including invoicing, cash application, and collections support Oversee accounts payable, ensuring vendor invoices are accurate, approved, and processed in a timely manner Coordinate tax processes including quarterly estimated tax payments and support external tax preparation Partner with logistics and operations teams to improve workflows, data quality, and financial accuracy Build and improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation to support scalability and business growth Provide leadership with clear, accurate financial insights and reporting
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including full ownership of month-end close and financial reporting Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting fundamentals Hands-on experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Advanced Excel skills, including working with large data sets Experience with ERP or accounting systems Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally Preferred Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain environments Experience with job costing, WIP accounting, or shipment profitability analysis Exposure to multi-currency and international accounting Familiarity with logistics systems such as Cargo Wise Experience supporting tax filings and working with external providersCPA (or in progress)
Salary:
