About the role

A venture capital firm is seeking an Executive Assistant to support its Managing Director. This is a hands-on role for someone who can bring order to a fast-moving environment, build context quickly, and exercise sound judgment across a high-volume inbox, calendar, and network of founders and investors.
Key responsibilities: Own inbox triage and follow-through, identifying priorities and ensuring important requests are not missed. Manage a complex calendar, protect time for high-priority meetings, and anticipate scheduling conflicts. Learn the context behind incoming requests, independently investigate when appropriate, and know when to bring decisions to the founder. Coordinate introductions, hosted dinners, and occasional events. Partner with the investing and investor relations teams to keep communication and scheduling organized. Build reliable systems and adapt as priorities change, including occasional time-sensitive needs outside standard hours.
Requirements: 8+ years of experience as an Executive Assistant supporting a CEO or founder in venture capital or private equity. Proven experience managing a complex executive inbox and calendar with substantial autonomy. Excellent judgment, discretion, attention to detail, and written communication. Ability to quickly understand relationships and priorities in a fast-moving investment environment. Confidence interacting with founders, investors, and other senior contacts. Strong technology skills, comfort using AI tools, and a proactive, low-ego approach.
Location: based in SoHo, New York City.
Salary: $150,000-$175,000+ DOE Pocketbook Agency is acting solely as a recruiting and placement firm for this position and is not the employer of record for this role unless otherwise explicitly stated. Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
