About the role
The Opportunity:
My client is seeking a commercially minded Analyst, Business Development to support the continued growth of a middle market M&A advisory practice. You will work with qualified inbound business-owner opportunities, help assess strategic goals and transaction readiness, and support the process of converting strong-fit prospects into signed sell-side advisory engagements. This role blends business development, client qualification, and analytical judgment. You will help organize and advance opportunities through the sales process, communicate clearly with founders and senior executives, maintain accurate pipeline data, and partner with senior bankers to ensure qualified clients move into transaction execution with strong context and alignment.
What You Will Do:
Engage with pre-qualified inbound business-owner opportunities and support initial advisory conversations.
Gather and organize information on each company, owner priorities, transaction goals, timing, and valuation expectations.
Assess fit and transaction readiness while helping communicate the firm’s sell-side M&A process, positioning, deliverables, and client experience.
Build credibility with founders and senior executives through thoughtful questions, responsive follow-up, and professional communication.
Support conversations around timing, fees, valuation, confidentiality, and the advisory process.
Help advance qualified opportunities through discovery, follow-up, proposal discussions, and engagement-letter execution.
Maintain accurate CRM notes, pipeline stages, forecasts, next steps, and conversion reporting.
Partner with senior bankers on client handoffs and provide feedback on lead quality, client sentiment, market conditions, and messaging.
What You Bring:
Experience in business development, consultative B2B sales, financial services, advisory work, or a related client-facing role.
Strong business acumen and the ability to communicate professionally with founders, business owners, and C-suite decision-makers.
Excellent research, discovery, organization, written communication, and relationship-management skills.
Analytical judgment with the ability to evaluate client needs, transaction readiness, and next-step priorities.
Exposure to M&A, investment banking, private equity, finance, consulting, accounting, brokerage, or professional services is preferred.
Comfort with performance targets, accountability, and a 100% commission-only compensation model.
Available to work remotely from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time.
Must be based in the United States.
Why Join:
You will work with qualified inbound opportunities, gain direct exposure to middle market M&A conversations, collaborate with experienced deal professionals, and have uncapped earning potential tied directly to the advisory engagements you help advance and secure.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
