About the role
Senior SQL Server DBA Lead (US Based - Seattle very desired)
Overview:
Serve as the primary owner of Customer’s SQL Server environment, providing technical leadership, operational oversight, stakeholder engagement, and strategic direction for a mission-critical database platform.
Schedule:
9:00 AM - 6:00 PM PST; Flexible support for planned maintenance, upgrades, and critical incidents2-3 day onsite presence in Enumclaw is required
Responsibilities:
- Own the health, performance, security, and stability of MOE's SQL Server environment.
- Administer SQL Server environments including performance tuning, upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, HA/DR, security, and capacity planning.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of production issues.
- Support business projects, enhancements, and application initiatives requiring database expertise.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders, project teams, infrastructure, security, and application teams.
- Drive automation, operational improvements, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership, prioritization, and guidance to the supporting DBA resource.
- Experience 10+ years SQL Server DBA experience.
- Strong expertise in:
- SQL Server Performance TuningAlways On Availability Groups
- ClusteringBackup & Recovery
- Disaster Recovery
- Security & Compliance
- Production Support
- PowerShell automation
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience supporting mission-critical environments.
Preferred
SnowflakeAzure SQLAWS-hosted SQL Server
Insurance or Financial Services experience
Team Expectations
Partner closely with the Senior DBA to provide seamless coverage, knowledge sharing, and operational continuity across Customer’s SQL environment.
Coordinate PTO, holidays, and coverage plans to avoid conflicts, eliminate single points of failure, and ensure uninterrupted support for mission-critical systems.
