About the role
POAM Comm SpecUnder the supervision of a Communications Supervisor, the purpose of this position is to receive requests for police, fire and emergency medical assistance from the public and dispatch these requests to the appropriate agencies.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Data entry and computer use experience preferred; prior work experience with public safety dispatching desired. Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license. Must maintain performance certifications and minimum training standards required by State and Federal guidelines. Within 24 months from date of hire, shall complete Module Two, a 40-hour telecommunicator training course approved by the State 9-1-1 Numbers Committee. Must complete Michigan LEIN operator training. Maintain LEIN/NICI fingerprint clearance. Pursue continuous professional development for current trends in communications/dispatch and emergency service practices.
