About the role

The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks a Virtual Currency Senior Blockchain Analyst to evaluate on-chain illicit activity risk, monitor dashboards for data anomalies, and conduct complex investigations using blockchain analytics tools. The role involves assessing licensed entities' exposure to financial crimes including OFAC designations, terrorist financing, ransomware, and other illicit activities, while serving as a subject matter expert on crypto-related BSA/AML compliance matters. The position is based in Albany or NYC and requires travel up to 25%.
Key qualifications: Seven years of specialized experience in financial crime risk evaluation (BSA/AML, OFAC/Sanctions, CTF) in a management, compliance or audit environment, or developing and implementing financial crime 5+ years of experience in the financial industry 2+ years of direct experience in crypto industry utilizing blockchain analytics and investigation tools Subject matter expertise in financial crime risk, typologies, BSA/AML, OFAC sanctions, and virtual assets Valid certifications preferred (Blockchain Analytics Tool, ACAMS, ACCFS, ACFE, or ABA credentials)
