BenefitsCompetitive salary Opportunity for advancement Training & development Role System Administrator Location Fort Belvoir, VA 22060 Let's Create Our Future Together at The AES Group!Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced System Administrator to lead enterprise infrastructure operations and guide a team of approximately 15 technical professionals, including desktop support specialists and database administrators. This role is responsible for ensuring system reliability, security, performance, availability, and operational efficiency while driving automation and process improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the configuration, operation, maintenance, and support of enterprise information systems. Guide technical teams and coordinate daily infrastructure operations. Administer Windows Server environments, including domain controllers, application servers, and file servers. Manage Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, permissions, and system access. Deploy software, patches, and updates using Group Policy and Microsoft SCCM. Administer physical and virtual servers, storage platforms, backup systems, and application environments.Support VMware and other virtualized infrastructure. Monitor system performance, availability, security, connectivity, logs, and backups. Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and infrastructure performance analysis. Recommend server, storage, network, and platform upgrades. Automate administrative tasks through scripts, tools, and documented procedures. Troubleshoot complex system issues and respond to critical incidents. Maintain lab environments for testing updates before production deployment.Provide software installation, maintenance, and end-user support. Develop technical documentation, operational reports, training materials, and project updates. Participate in infrastructure design discussions and provide technical recommendations. Manage multiple priorities and support scheduled maintenance activities.Required QualificationsActive Secret security clearance. 6-10 years of system administration experience. CompTIA Security+ CE certification. CompTIA Server+, MCSA, MCP, or an equivalent Windows Server certification. Strong experience administering Windows Server environments. Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft SCCM. Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies. Experience with patch management, backups, monitoring, and server maintenance. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to lead technical teams, work independently, and manage competing priorities.Preferred QualificationsExperience with VMware environments. Experience with enterprise backup and storage solutions. Experience supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure. Strong knowledge of system performance, capacity planning, and infrastructure automation. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced technical environment.Working ConditionsPrimarily office-based, with occasional travel. Evening or weekend work may be required for maintenance and critical system operations.Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 35 pounds and perform the physical activities required for infrastructure support.
