About the role

Therapy Assistant Provide essential support to therapists by assisting in the care of patients receiving Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy services. Help maintain treatment areas and equipment, ensuring a clean and organized environment. Deliver excellent customer service through prompt communication and professional interaction.
Essential Responsibilities: Apply practical clinical skills and common sense to assist patients based on their age and diagnosis. Support the department's mission, values, and service philosophy. Assist therapists during treatments, including hot packs, cryotherapy, exercise supervision, vital sign monitoring, ambulation, transfer training, and dressing changes. Set up therapeutic equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, vasopneumatic compression, assistive devices, and sterile fields. Help patients prepare for treatment by assisting with dressing, positioning, and delivering equipment. Perform limited front office duties including patient chart preparation, entering charges, monitoring orders, filing, copying, faxing, and managing supplies. Maintain excellent guest relations and telephone etiquette, greeting visitors and directing inquiries appropriately. Keep treatment areas, equipment, and supplies clean, organized, and well-stocked. Transport in-patients to and from therapy sessions as needed. Observe patients during treatment and promptly report any distress or equipment issues to therapists. Participate in orientation, monthly meetings, and ongoing training to support professional development and teamwork.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. No prior experience required, though experience in similar roles or strong communication skills is advantageous. Basic computer skills preferred, especially familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, Meditech, or data entry.
Licensure/Certifications: CPR certification is preferred. If not held at hire, certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
