The Opportunity: Reporting to senior tax leadership, this position will help oversee international tax compliance, international tax accounting, transfer pricing, and global tax reporting activities. The role will also support international indirect tax functions, including compliance, accounting, audits, and planning initiatives. This individual will play a key role in optimizing the organization's global tax position while minimizing risk across multiple jurisdictions. Responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate international tax compliance and reporting, maintaining SOX compliance, supporting strategic planning initiatives, and partnering with both internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities: International Compliance & Reporting Manage and review U.S. international tax filings, including Forms 5471, 8858, 1118, and FATCA reporting. Oversee foreign statutory tax filings across applicable jurisdictions. Ensure all compliance requirements and filing deadlines are met accurately and timely. Tax Provision (ASC 740)Manage and review international components of the tax provision, including GILTI, FDII, and foreign tax credits. Calculate and document valuation allowances and international tax reserves. Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements. Transfer Pricing Manage transfer pricing compliance and documentation, including country-by-country reporting. Oversee intercompany agreements and pricing policies. Coordinate with external advisors on transfer pricing studies and related documentation. Audits & Tax Controversy Manage foreign and domestic tax audits involving international tax matters. Coordinate responses to information requests and support the defense of tax positions. Review notices from tax authorities and ensure accurate, timely responses. Tax Planning & Structuring Support international tax planning initiatives, including global expansion, supply chain structuring, and cross-border transactions. Analyze tax implications of business activities and provide recommendations to leadership. Partner with finance, legal, and operational teams on strategic initiatives. Risk Management & Governance Conduct tax risk assessments for global operations. Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal policies. Monitor international tax law developments and assess business impacts. Collaboration & Leadership Partner with external tax advisors and global stakeholders. Mentor and develop tax team members. Identify process improvements and implement best practices.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or CPA designation preferred.5-8+ years of progressive international tax experience within a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or multinational corporate environment. Strong knowledge of U.S. international tax rules and global tax frameworks. Experience with tax compliance software and related tax systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively across functions in a fast-paced, global environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Work Environment: Hybrid work arrangement in the greater Chicago area. Standard office environment. Additional hours may be required during peak tax compliance and reporting periods.
