About the role

Production Overhire TheatreSquared is Northwest Arkansas's professional, non-profit theatre, recognized nationally for its bold new plays, intimate setting, and transformative community impact. Welcoming more than 80,000 patrons annually to over 350 performances and events, TheatreSquared is the largest professional producing theatre in the state and a proud champion of storytelling that uplifts, challenges, and connects. With a commitment to arts education, TheatreSquared reaches thousands of students and educators across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Honored with the 2022 Obie Award and praised by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and NPR, TheatreSquared continues to grow as a home for both innovative new works and world-class productions—rooted in the belief that theatre, done well and with passion, can truly transform lives and communities. TheatreSquared is seeking Production Overhire staff to support our production and event needs on an as-needed basis. This is a call-in, temporary opportunity, where individuals are contacted based on project needs, scheduling, and availability. Assignments may range from single-day calls to multi-day or short-term projects throughout the season. Overhire staff may assist across a variety of production areas, including scenic, props, paint, costumes, lighting, sound, projections, and general production support. Work may also include run crew assignments such as deck crew, wardrobe, board operation, spot op, or other backstage roles. This role is often hands-on and physical, and may involve lifting, moving materials, working on your feet for extended periods, and supporting fast-paced production environments. We are building a strong and reliable pool of individuals who are interested in working with TheatreSquared on a flexible, as-needed basis. Prior experience in theatre or production is preferred. We welcome individuals with a willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, and an interest in supporting live performance. Must be over 18 years old.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
