Dock Lead / Quality Control
tristate foliageDayton (OH)
About the role
We are looking for someone well versed in the field of indoor/tropical foliage, with experience that would assist in identifying the correct plants for each customer order before being sent out for delivery. The candidate must have the capability to determine if plants are the correct size and variety, as well as evaluating the condition of plants for any potential quality concerns. This role would serve as a leading position to keep the dock, packaging, and quality control running smoothly. While the primary role would be overseeing and directing the workflow of others, you must be comfortable with working in those positions as well. This may entail things like loading/unloading trucks.
Key Responsibilities:
Check orders as they come to the dock and confirm the right plant, right size, right quantity and meets quality standards
Direct pullers and dock staff to the correct location for packaging
Make sure all customer orders are properly labeled
Monitor the flow of orders from pulling through packaging and loading
Direct the packager, pullers, and loaders where help is needed
Move employees between tasks when necessary to keep work moving
Communicate problems or staffing needs to the scheduler/manager
Maintain an organized and clean dock space
Keep hard goods stocked and organized
Assist with inventory management
Qualifications:
Organized and detail-oriented
Dependable
Prior leading/directing experience
Able to work in a fast paced environment
Willing to work alongside the team (leading by example), not just supervise
Must be able to lift and move heavy objects if needed
Must be able to work standing and walking for the whole shift
Flexibility to work extra days and/or extra hours during busy seasons
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
