About the role

Research Assistant Professor The successful candidate will be required to teach 2 courses each Fall and Spring semester, one course entitled "Introduction to South Carolina," and a second, "Introduction to the American South". Administratively, the successful candidate will serve as content coordinator, scheduler, and assistant producer of our highly successful Take on the South podcast; help coordinate and increase the Institute's social media presence; assist in generating student and community interest and engagement with the Institute's various digital initiatives; and help develop demand for the Institute's Minor in Southern Studies.
Qualifications: PhD in the humanities or social sciences with demonstrable experience in teaching the U.S. South & Administrative experience. ABD candidates are welcome to apply, but their PhD must be conferred before the start date. Job duties include teaching 2 courses each Fall and Spring semester, serving as content coordinator, scheduler, and assistant producer of the Take on the South podcast, helping to coordinate and increase the Institute's social media presence, assisting in generating student and community interest and engagement with the Institute's various digital initiatives, and helping to develop demand for the Institute's Minor in Southern Studies.
